Travel Report Update! - Probably the last one before I fly home (Swiss trip 2011)

June 14, 2011 05:34PM

Tomorrow is the next-to-last full day, and we need to fit nearly a week's work into those two days. So probably no time for the PMWF. Frowning

But in the meantime, some more photos of the vehicular sort.

I've been surprised at how many classic American cars are on the road here. For instance..

I've spotted at least a couple dozen. Other notables include a Buick 225, an Olds 98, several Cadillacs and, my fav by far, a stunning '69 Dodge Dart GT. WIS Honeymoon Alas they were all under steam, and passed too quick for me to score a photo.

And boatloads of cool Euro-cars, of course! How many..

..real Minis do you see in the 'States?! I am confused

And since we have a few Alfa fans here (Hi Bro. Marc! Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off)...

And cool bikes? I should say so! Thumbs up!

I believe I mentioned earlier that there are still plenty of 2-stokes on the road here. Now, while a 50-cc Ring-ding Motard ain't gonna be everyone's cuppa..

..that bike is pure Unobtanium in the USA, and no two ways about it.

Same here, pretty much..

..unless your name is "ncmoto". Wink

But lest I stray too far Off topic post (not watch related), let's have a few horologically-themed photos.

I don't know if you can get a true sense of scale here..

..but that's one BIG clock! That's the station in Aarau. The seconds hand sweeps smoother'n any hi-beat auto, too! Thumbs up! Laughing

And some more Drooling window-shopping..

Both those had me taking inventory, trying to decide if I had any bodily organs I might sell to finance their purchase. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

So. Hope that'll hold ye until Saturday.

See you then!

Cheers!

-Ricky

the "killing machine" vette gets my vote for the awesome ride of the day >
though I still kick myself for not buying the 6.6 TA when I had the chance. I am crying

greg honeycutt 128 June 14, 2011 04:54PM

The fuzzy dice in the 'Vette would have to go...
In the Camaro, fine. But fuzzy dice in a 'Vette is like a yellow rubber strap on an Omega Speedmaster. I am angry!

Of course, both are easily rectified. Smile

Personally I thought it was a nice touch. I am confused
I talked with the fellow who drives that 'vette for a few minutes, and he's definitely not one who takes himself or the car too seriously. Wink

BTW, despite the semi-wild looks the engine is pretty much a bone-stock stovebolt smallblock. But, of course, there's nothing wrong wi' that! Thumbs up!

Ricky Lee 114 June 14, 2011 11:01PM

Unless my eyes deceive me.. the second bike..
is a Kawasaki W650 custom job (the overall look says cafe racer, the tires scream bobber. and the IOM disk, well..) W650 has been re-released this year in Europe as an 800 to compete with the modern Triumph twins..

Flasharry 162 June 14, 2011 04:56PM

You may be steam driven, but you keep up with your thumpers!Wink
I like the tax disc with the Isle of Man emblem in it. The style is that of DEUS out of the land down under, as evidenced by their old logo and the tires. They are a curious choice, to me more retro poser than real cafe rubber. A cool bike nonetheless.

itschris 144 June 14, 2011 06:27PM

Technically not a thumper, since that term is traditionally reserved for single-cylinder bikes.

But I couldn't agree more there, on both points! Thumbs up!

Duh! Brain fade. Sorry. Blushing (n/t)

itschris 111 June 15, 2011 12:15PM

Its been a long time since I was into motorcycles actively..
but like watches, once the bug bites.. Biggest problem for me with biking, is I;m stuck in a time warp, just can;t get into the modern stuff (ok, the new Bonneviles and such excepted..) The current crop of sport and cruisers leave me cold..

Flasharry 101 June 15, 2011 11:38AM

I took it for a Triumph! Oops! But looking closer..
