I maintain it's a helluva watch period. But...
..yeah, considering the < US $100 price, it may be THE most bang-for-the-buck in all WISdom.
And , o' esteemed .

Great review.
Good to hear the lume has improved. That is the only fault I find on mine. The lume can be charged but fades away very quick.
Question
about the color. How blue is it? When you look at, is it blue or it is
only blue when the sun light hits it a certain way?
Thanks
Phil

Re: How blue is it? When you look at, is it blue or it is only blue when the sun light hits it a certain way?
Well.. neither bezel nor dial are a bright blue.
The bezel insert is a slightly more vibrant hue than the dial, and always appears blue, no matter the light. The dial, however, does appear nearly black in some lighting conditions. In this regard it, again, seems..
..quite faithful to the 0mega.

Yup, that describes my ca. 2005 model to a 'T'. This one is far and away better though, again, still not -class. I will say this, though - it's better lume than some watches I've seen.

Looks great, congrats!
I wish they made a version of that watch with the sword hands. I'd like
to get a blue wave dial watch, but the bond style hands don't appeal to
me.

Perhaps it's the iconoclast in me, but I prefer the Bond hands.. and by a hefty margin!
I mean, I like the 0mega sword hands.
But
compared to the Bond hands they seem a bit.. well, generic, to me.
After all, US $4 and a quick eMail to Uncle Otto will net you a pair of
hands that are practically identical.
The Bond hands? No. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything close.
Just me 2¢, YMMV.

I don't fault Omega for coming up with something different, but they
seem a bit too gimmicky to me. Like they're trying too hard to be
different just for the sake of being different. Sword hands look just
more classic to me. But that's my $0.02 on that matter.
Do you
know what hand size the TY2806 movement takes? Certainly if I can find
the right hands building my own sword-hands Alpha is a very doable
project.

Re: Do you know what hand size the TY2806 movement takes?
There's the rub.
I don't - not for sure. The Sea-Gull web site seems to indicate 1.0 mm minute, 1.50 mm hour, and 0.18 mm seconds. And those are pretty common sizes with Chinese movements. But I'm far from certain of this...
FWIW, if I'm right, you'll be hard pressed to find suitable hands, at least from Otto Frei. Their best selection, by far, is in the popular 70/120 size, followed by 90/150. Quite odd ducks, 100/150.

I can see that. To each their own!

I did some poking around after replying to you and did find the same
information. And like you, didn't find much at ofrei for those hand
sizes. Oh well, it was a good idea before it fizzled out...

I may try that..
I was reading the mod section on PMWF looking for a write up on swapping hands.
I would like to order an Alpha sub homage and swap the hands out. I do not like MB hands.

Good on ye!
A replacement hand set is so inexpensive, yet can potentially make such a HUGE difference in the appearance of a watch, it is (IMHO!) unarguably the Most Bang For The Buck Mod there is.

Congrats Ricky! I'm curious about one thing...
It appears to me that the bezel pip is low and also slightly off-center ( to the right ) of the triangle in every pic.
I'm guessing that's something you have probably already spotted by now and can live with.

..the
bezel pip is indeed off-kilter in relationship to the triangle. I'm not
so sure that it's "low", I think it's more that it's slightly
oversized. This is based on scrutinizing photos of the Real Deal (see HERE, HERE, and HERE).
But it is definitely off-center to the right.

You got it. I was also curious as to if and how long it'd take someone to call foul. Not long as it turns out.
I dunno. Alpha does sell the bezel insert ala carte..
..but it runs a lordly US $12.99 shipped , so I probably won't bother. It lines up pretty good with the dial chapter markers, and in any case it's no worse than many a more illegitimate unit.
And,
honestly, it's not at all apparent to the naked eye, on-the-wrist.
Perhaps if the rest of the execution weren't so good it'd bother me
more. But, as it is, I'm not much bothred at all.
But for playing along.

I would by all means contact the seller and ask for a free insert replacement. Really... I would be a little
I
looked at several other Alpha Seamaster pics online and all the pips
were perfectly centered inside the triangle. Sending you another insert
would certainly be less expensive than replacing the watch.

As have I. And the 'stock' photos are spang-on, certainly.
But, you know, my ca. 2005 Multi-Function model was far from perfect in this regard, too. No doubt this is partly why it doesn't
really bother me. After a bit, I totally got used to it. And the fact
that this one exhibits a similar quirk makes it seem familiar, even
nostalgic.

Re: Hey Ricky, sorry if I missed it but does it have a screw down crown?
Forgive me for answering a PM "in the clear" , but this is definitely germane to the thread.
Affirmative on the screwdown crown.

I know in the past many have taken reps (this I would call a homage)
& give it better gaksets & new crystal & have made the WR
level much better.
Don't
think it's necessary. My ca. 2005 Multi-Function model was submerged on
many an occasion, and regularly cleaned under the tap with mild soap
and a toothbrush. Never had any problem whatsoever. Given that
this one deletes the pushers, and after taking a peek at the caseback
seal, I'd be amazed if it isn't watertight. Indeed, I reckon the 3 ATM
WR rating is probably conservative. I expect that 10 ATM is more like
it...
