This was my Festivus / early Christmas present, and sure you saw it in the Rollcall on Christmas Eve. I won't pretend this is anything like a comprehensive and objective review, since I have so little experience with the watch. But I've managed some improved photos.. so let's give it a go! smiling smiley

One unusual thing about this watch is the packaging...

It comes in a plastic blister-pack, a style more often seen on, say, a calculator or a flash drive than on a wristwatch.

Not too surprising, though, when you realize that is a brick-n-mortar brand exclusively.

This is my third Prologue - I also own a Super Protection digital alarm chrono and a 165 WR time-only analog. Solid watches both, the former has been with me since Dec. 2007 and the latter since April 2010.

I'm a fool for a gray dial, and I fell in love with this one immediately. WIS Honeymoon I'd call the overall styling Quasi-vintage, with the classic hands leading the way. Also worthy of note are the full Arabics, with no partially "eaten" chapters whatsoever. Of all my analog chronos, I believe it stands alone in this regard. Though a few others come close, no cigar.

The engine-turned dial is a super nice touch! Though it's not as exquisitely wrought as my Mido Multifort, it's still gorgeous. Like the Mido..

..the Geneva stripes disappear under certain lighting conditions.

The specs are:

► Full Stainless Steel case
► 41mm X 49mm X 12.5mm thick, 20mm lugs
► Screwdown caseback, push-in crown
► Water resistant 3 ATM
► Mineral glass crystal, low dome
► Miyota OS20 movement

One thing that might be a disappointment for some is that there's no lume whatsoever. But personally, in a watch with "vintage" aspirations, I find this to be perfectly OK.

Polished finish overall, nicely complemented by a semi-matte bezel.

That bezel finish is fairly unusual..

..in being concentric-brushed, with a very fine "grain". Nice!

The signed buckle is also quite nicely done but, alas, I just couldn't make it work for me. But then I routinely fit a deployant to 'most all my leather straps, so this is par for the course.

Simple yet very crisply executed caseback.

Sure I had to have a peek at the movement. Mind you I was 98% sure of what I'd find - the layout and action fairly screamed Miyota OS20. Still, I've been fooled before, so I just had to know. Laughing Out Loud!

I'd rather hoped to find a maker's mark, but "LWDHR" means nothing to me. Anyone?

The strap's really quite decent! Unmarked aside from "GENUINE LEATHER", it's easily on a par with, say, an aftermarket Speidel. Mind you..

..it is barely long enough for me ankle-sized wrist. I am blushing Fitting the deployant made all the difference here, as it effectively "stretches" the strap by 5mm. Even so I had to do the Sliding Keeper Switcheroo. I know full well that some of y'all will find that look wonky Crazy! Loco! in the extreme, but so often must I resort to such monkeyshines that it seems normal to me. And the ergos are fine! Come summer this one will be fitted with a NATO, but for the nonce I'm just happy to be able to use the OEM strap at all.

All in all a nicely-finished, well-built, rock-solid watch which combines modern quartz convenience and reliability with classic vintage style. A keeper for sure! thumbs up

Prologue is a brick 'n mortar brand only?
Which store?

I like the look of it on the strap. I think it will lose some class on a NATO.

Agreed, but at least it will be wearable. For me, leather straps are simply not an option come summertime in Mississippi...

I love that dial. The similarity with your Mido struck me immediately. thumbs up (n/t) DJM 54 December 25, 2012 03:22PM
