WooHOO! WIS Honeymoon It's a happy day, a new watch arrived

But what's that ye say? You know you've encountered this seldom-seen brand somewhere, but can't quite place it? I am confused Well, that'd be..

..me own Prologue watches Alarm-Chrono, no doubt. Laughing

The construction is quite similar, being a resin case with a fetching matte finish that could almost be mistaken for beadblasted steel. It checks in at 40mm X 46mm X 13mm thick, with hooded 18mm lugs. The caseback is peas-in-a-pod with the chrono, too..

..being forged in the Casio style, with a substantial O-ring seal underneath. Sure, I took a peek inside. Wink Had to, for it arrived with a dead battery. Oops! 'twas BNiB (well.. blister-pack vs. box Smile), mind, but had obviously been sitting "on the shelf" for a spell. That's OK, though, I've got plenty o' batteries in stock, and it gave me the perfect excuse to assuage me curiosity about the movement. Turned out to be a Miyota 2030, a no-nonsense workhorse WIS Honeymoon which took right off upon installation of a fresh 377 cell. After seeing how it's put together, I have no doubt the 5ATM WR rating is legit. Thumbs up!

This shot shows perhaps my favorite feature of the watch..

..the triple-row knurled crown. Clapping! 'tis a joy to use, offering a dead-positive purchase, not to mention lookin' grrrrrrrr8! Smile

Alas, no Hairy Wrist Shot inside! yet, as the resin strap's a wee bit short for me fat Blushing wrist. I'll rectify that today, rest assured. Wink

T'anks for readin', y'all, and a big Mississippi Thank you! to Magnus, me bestest Swedish pal!

Cheers!

-Ricky

P.s. - I should also mention that Magnus sent along a nifty black leather bund-ish style strap which, alas, I forgot to photograph Oops!, and a Hultafors talmeter (don't call it "a tape measure! I am angry! Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off). And from me good friend Dave a way-cool Honda t-shirt and a new oil filter for Ol' Red. Plus a couple of gift certificates and too many cards and letters to list. And, of course, mama baked me a scrumptious German-chocolate cake. Drooling Sure I made out like a bandit this year.. Blushing Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

Just remember, he who dies with the most toys wins. Eek! (n/t)

Allan Zirlin 170 April 10, 2010 05:05PM

I have a different view. 'tis not what toys ye have, but how ye USE them! Gif Attachments

I don't want to be the guy who plods meekly to his grave, joyless curmudgeon to the end, bitching about how Life Screwed Him Over, and leaving behind Tag Monacos and all other manner of RMWs for his heirs to feud over. I am crying

No.

I seek to be the man who spins into his grave kickin' gravel every whichaway and goin' "WoooooHOO! What a ride!" WIS Honeymoon

And you know what? Me heirs will remember me more fondly for those Good Times (OK, maybe the cheap Chinese watches, '63 Plymouth,16 acres, and a mule will help some) than yours will for your all your "toys". Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

Food for thought, me brother, Food For Thought. Wink

The Prologue watches Solution

April 19, 2010 05:57PM

An update to me birthday wristwatch, which I reported on a couple of weeks back. The OEM resin strap was too short for a Caveman Wrist, ye'll recall, and I realized that I'd never provided an update Oops! on my solution to the problem.

Mind you, you won't need a degree in Rocket Science to figure it out. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

The Ricky Standard NATO, sure. Wink

Works Grrrrrrrrrrrrr8!, if I do say so meself. Blushing The one thing that nags at me is that, modestly priced as these straps are, it's still about 3X the street price of the watch itself. I am confused Kind of like the case of $3K rims on a $1K automobile, which I was cautioning Bro. Nuvolari about just t'other day. Wink So at some point I'll probably swap on one of the sub-$2 1-piece nylon straps from Uncle Otto. But for now I'll just tell me Inner Scotsman to STFU, and Live Large. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

Cheers!

I think MESH would have looked cool! Cool (n/t)

MCV 146 April 19, 2010 07:20PM

Ye're mad! Crazy! Loco! Eek!

Unless.. does someone make plastic mesh bracelets? I am confused Rolling on the floor laughing me ass off!
Ricky Lee 158 April 19, 2010 07:36PM

If you classify nylon as a plastic, then it's already on a plastic mesh! laughing (n/t)

Chris L 146 April 19, 2010 09:33PM

Good point! Laughing

Just a very, very, very fine mesh. Rolling on the floor laughing me ass off!
Ricky Lee 161 April 20, 2010 06:24AM

Very nice combo! I like. (n/t)

DJM 120 April 19, 2010 06:46PM

If you keep describing it with percentages, you will keep making a mountain out of a molehill here. smile

A $20 strap that costs 3 times as much as a $6.33 watch still means you spent a reasonable amount for a strap solution. With a $1K car that has $2K worth of auto-bling added on still means you can buy a new Ball watch with the amount of wasted spending. laughing
Chris L 193 April 19, 2010 06:08PM

Excellent point. Blushing

At this lowly level, the difference would barely buy you a modest dinner. Wink

That Inner Scotsman o' mine, though, he's one loud-mouthed insistent git. Eek!

Can't imagine where he comes by that. I am confused Cheap Bastard that he is, he must be related to Paul December... Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off
Ricky Lee 166 April 19, 2010 06:21PM

I like it. Leave it like it is Ricky.Thumbs up! (n/t)
