Hey, if I'm boring y'all with these, just let me know, 'K? Wink, wink ...

And sure, 'tis another that ye've seen glimpses of, what I at first considered to be the Superstar of the SoCal Contingent. Mind you, the Casio AMW-320D has since come to eclipse it, IMHO. But it's one sweet li'l watch nevertheless! Thumbs Up!

But hard to photograph! This is not the first, 2nd, or 3rd attempt, but the fourth! Scary! Crazy, man! I give up! I am angry!! I'm still not happy with these results, but 'tis the best I can do. I am sad...

I think we're all familiar with Orients product, so you will not be surprised when I tell you that the fit-finish-function is top-notch. At 36mm X 42.2mm X 11mm thick, it's a nice classic size. Not too big, not too small.. Goldilocks would WIS honeymoon it! I am smiling...

This one has recieved a thorough cleaning (Day-um Paul. Looked like you excavated the San Andreas whilst wearin' this one. Scary!). Still need to do a little work between noon and 2, but all in all it cleaned up real nice. Paul said of this one "..perfectly fine, but the crystal has a scratch so I can't sell it" Well, I had to look pretty darned close to find it, but sure enough..

..it does have a wee scratch. See it? Running between 6 and 7, and underlining the '50M' text? Might make it difficult to sell, but it don't bother me none!

Very nice and crisply executed screwdown caseback..

..which has been the case with all Orients I've hand the pleasure of handling. Thumbs Up! I haven't pulled the cover off, but I'm betting the movement is handsomely finished, too.

The lume..

..while light-years better than my Orient CEM58002DW Sliderule, is still merely so-so. There is a huge disparity between the brightness level of the hands and chapter markers, for instance, even more so than is apparent in that UV-charged lume shot.

Dunno what more to add. 'tis just a solid, all-around great little wristwatch Thumbs Up!, one that puts a smile on me face..

..every time I wear it. Besides the obvious (that it inform you of the time in a competent manner), what more can you ask of a watch? WIS honeymoon

Thanks for readin', y'all!

Is that a Dry suit top your wearing in your picture? Great looking watch also. Not too sporty but not tame looking either.

You know, I've had to chew on that a bit. Even smoked on it, as my hero...

My hero!

..Chief Dan George would have. Laughing!

Know what? You're absolutely right! This watch strikes a near-perfect balance between "dressy" and "sporty", IMHO. Thumbs Up!

Thanks for making me see it.

If you talk to animals they will talk with you, and you will know each other.

If you do not talk to them, you will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear.

What one fears, one destroys.

..a very effective piece of kit, BTW! Thumbs Up!

It was cropped from this photo..

Grand Canyon Ride

..overlooking the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

One HELL of a ride that was. One that's better through the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia than it was the first time around, if ye get me drift. Wink, wink ...

That day is HERE, and the entire marathon ride is HERE.

to your adventure, and especially with the one with the schedule. Traveling is great. Especially when you can do it with no set deadlines. I've spent quite a few time living in the Four corners area, and it is one of my favorite places to hang out in. I live in the Boulder Utah area. Mostly during the Summer till Fall.. Great pictures also. Thanks for sharing them. As far as the Rain Gear, It is amazing how far outdoor gear has come. I'm sure you are one to remember when all there was was either a Poncho or Trench coat. Raingear nowadays is much more comfortable and can be task specific. It's great.

Orient makes solid watches . . . but don't expect fine decorating on the movement >>> (Views: 12)

if you pop the back off. It should be very clean assembly, and basic parts finish (burnished where things need to be) with the expected movement markings, but extra decorating such as Geneve stripes and pearlage will likely be omitted. I'd be surprised if it has any decorating beyond signed rotor. The "3-Star" are the very basic Orient . . . what you get is the same basic caliber used in more expensive Orients . . . with less decorating and less expensive case (all stainless but less steel used), crystal, band, etc. This is what makes them a great value. -John

Right. I've only ever inspected a couple of Orient movements up close and personal. No decoration per se, but.. (Views: 6)
Ricky Lee -- May 11, 2009 02:45AM
..a very clean, businesslike finish that goes well beyond plain-jane by it's very simplicity. Understated to the extreme, yet blows most "decorated" Chinese movements into the weeds, nonetheless. Wink, wink ...

-Ricky

Yep - less "window dressing" and more attention to where it counts in functional operation Thumbs Up! (n/t) (Views: 5)
John Lind -- May 11, 2009 03:16AM
looks cool.. i like the way the numbers are applied to the inside of the crystal (n/t) (Views: 5)
anjizkit -- May 11, 2009 02:11AM
Good call! Thumbs Up!Yes indeed, while I'm not 100% sure.. (Views: 6)
Ricky Lee -- May 11, 2009 02:22AM
..the markers on the chapter ring are actually applied directly to the crystal - more likely the crystal is simply flush-mounted to a conventional chapter ring - that is indeed the visual effect. Very striking, IMHO! WIS honeymoon

-Ricky

I was thinking the same . . . flush to crystal . . . would be very difficult to align properly if it's on the inside of the crystal (n/t) (Views: 3)

Someone saw me in a tie the other day and said I cleaned up nicely. The same could be said about the watch. Nice job Ricky.

Thank You! Dave! (Views: 4)

I've been told the same.. but, you know, some folks will say any damn thing just to be nice, so I take it with a grain of salt. Wink, wink ...

The watch now, agree 100% there! Laughing!
