Sure I hinted that it might be coming in Monday's Rollcall. The bracelet in question is the curved-end Ricky_US solid-link which has been living on the Mido Multifort chrono, and which I freely concede wasn't ideal for the . With the combination of 23mm lugs and 22mm endlinks, it could never be. Wink

What wasn't as apparent as the 1mm width mis-match is that the endlinks were much thinner than the Mido's lugs, causing them to sit significantly sub-flush in respect to the lugs. You can see that to pretty good effect here:

In any case, as much as I enjoyed this bracelet on the Chrono, it was time to move along. But which of my watches should be the next lucky recipient? I am confused The first one that spring to mind was the Alpha Big Pilot Power-Reserve GMT Automatic. (Whew! That's a mouthful! Laughing) Alas, that was a no-go. Frowning The sticky wicket proved to be the "Big" aspect. The middle-of-the-road curvature of the Ricky_US endlinks means that they simply aren't capable of "matching up" to a watch the size of that 48mm behemoth.

Back To The Drawing Board. With this in mind, I chose my next victim candidate carefully, and I'm happy to report that this attempt was successful. WooHOO! So 'ere ye go...

The endlink curvature is not a perfect fit for the 41mm base diameter of the Mondaine.. but it's mighty close! The endlinks contact the case on either end, and there's a wee teensy gap (perhaps .12 to .15mm) between. But looked at in a certain way, this could be seen as A Feature Not A Bug. I've seen some endlinks that contacted the case-sides heavily enough to leave marks. Eek! The Mondaine is beautifully polished in that area, and it'd be a shame to see it marred.. but I'm pretty sure that won't happen!

From the side..

..the fit is likewise much, much "tighter" than it was with the Mido.

And.. ah, sorry about those unintentional "self portraits" Eek! in those two photos. Oops! I generally try to get out of the frame before I shoot photos, but yesterday it was just too hot to bother. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

Anyway. I'm still not willing to consider it a Perfect Fit in profile. The flat "truncated" ends of the Mondaine lugs means you can see a tiny portion of the endlink's springbar access cavity. Also the thick back-side "stabilizer tab" of the endlinks is quite evident in a straight-on side view. But neither is a deal-breaker for me, and I consider it plenty Close Enough For Rock 'N' Roll. One Good Thing about the fit is that the endlinks are held lightly in compression against the sides of the case, even if the contact points are only on the extreme outboard tips. But the result is rock-solid, with no "swiveling" or free-play whatsoever.
Thumbs up!

IMHO the "weight" and style is a most harmonious match with the . And, while it's true that I've had it on steel before, these were straight-end mesh bracelets (see HERE and HERE) - this is the first time for both a bracelet of conventional construction and for fitted endlinks. To me, it's quite a dramatic change!

So. Overall I am most pleased with the combo. Thumbs up! I reckon it'll stay this way for the rest of the summer, at least. Laughing

One thing's for sure...

I like the combo!!! It looks to be almost a perfect fit!!!!

I like that Mondaine, if only it was a little larger... (n/t)

Almost bought a Mondaine in Basel but
Even though the design appeals to me they just seem small, but then again I took off a 46mm Glycine to try on the Mondaine. Might have to give them another go

I'm not completely convinced... No offence! Blushing Jpeg Attachments
It has to do with a certain 'modernity' of the Mondaine dial, which needs not so much of a classic Omega style, like the "Ricky_us" alias the Zhuolei® bracelet posesses. I looked in my files and voilá, I'm not sure this is a OEM Mondaine bracelet either, but I think it looks better IMHO. Whistle

That bracelet is not really -style. I am confused More R0lex-style. It's the classic Oyster pattern, basically.

That's pretty much "Breitling Pilot style".

It could well be OEM Mondaine. Probably is. They do offer more OEM options than just black leather or steel mesh. Wink

The bracelet lines up and fits good, but the aesthetics...
The usual OEM treatment is a straight, flat black strap or tight-weave mesh. I think they get it right. Braun Bauhaus watches get a similar treatment.

I did like your old mesh strap better. I think a straight, no frills black rubber strap could do the trick also. smile

But I am now a Mondaine-less heathen so what do I know, right? laughing

I will add a bit of justification in a bracelet combo I tried out on my new(ish) Maratac Pilot watch a few weeks ago. I've been wearing it on a thick leather strap that suites the watch great since I got it. But I wanted to a more summer-friendly option. I dug out an old 20mm Oyster-style brushed-finish bracelet I salvaged from an old watch of decades past. The finish matched, the endlinks I bent into fitting right. It is a cheap folded-link type, but the finish all seemed to match the case. I wore it for a couple of days that way, and then put the leather back on. The bracelet style was just wrong for the watch. Can't classify it beyond some artistic sense, but I could not leave it that way. I never took a pic of the combo.

Re: The usual OEM treatment is a straight, flat black strap or tight-weave mesh. I think they get it right.
Right. It came OEM-equipped on black leather, of course. A very nice strap that was naturally way too short for me. It's still in perfect condition, since it's never been worn. Wink I do agree that it's a great option, but at this time of year leather is taboo for me.

As for bracelets.. yeah, if I'm honest with myself this oyster-style will never replace the mesh as my Favorite Mondaine Combo.

However, it certainly doesn't strike me as intrinsically wrong for the watch. I was mainly just looking to mix things up a bit. Variety being The Spice Of Life and all.

Right! Oops! I noticed that! You have lost your gig as Resident Phorum Mondaine Guru, I fear.
Eek!
