I liked the black GMT Marina Militare so much that I couldn't resist this orange example:
Those are the pics above. *
Initial impressions were most favorable. In particular, the uncluttered simplicity appeals to me. The c-OMEX version seems a bit more finely finished than my black GMT version (RXW?), and the autowind makes a much more pleasing sound as it functions.. sort of a ratcheting sound vs. a thud. The lume is far better, too. Still not great mind, you, but it stays readable for a good 3 to 4 hours, vs. one or two. For what I paid, it strikes me as having a phenomenal 'bang-for-the-buck' quotient.
It came on an unpadded brown leather strap. Marked "Genuine Leather Made In Italy", and with the buckled signed "c-OMEX", it's really quite a decent quality strap. Quite long, too; it fit my 8-1/8" wrist on the 2nd hole. But, as I believe I've mentioned before, I just can't leave well enough alone :
That's one of the spiffy Zulu straps from West Coast Time, and I'm quite pleased with it. It certainly gets noticed.. I was at the grocery store last night, way back in line, and the head checker yells over at an underling to "Open up another register for.." she looks back at me, obviously trying to find a distinguishing characteristic to describe me, and finishes with "..the man with the orange watch."
One caveat, if you're considering one of these straps, and have an oversize wrist - it just barely fits an 8-1/8. I have to use the last position, and even at that it's really too tight. There's enough room to punch an additional hole, though, so I'll do so once I get a Round Tuit. I'm a little worried that punching a hole in a nylon strap might cause it to fray, though. Any advice on that score?
In any case, I like the combo much better than the original:
It looks more "military", is more comfortable (or at least will be once I punch that extra hole), more durable and, to me, more aesthetically pleasing. I do wish the shade of orange matched the dial more closely. Hmmm. A little Clorox, maybe?
Thanks for lookin'!

* And, yes, I did buy it from the notorious seller, eta2836, that Jittery Jim was so kind as to warn us about. The price was so low, I figured it was worth taking a chance. I mean. I've dropped more than the US $33 price of this watch in 5 minutes at the casino, with absolutely nothing to show for it.
Imagine my horror, though, when suspended this guy 2 days after I won the auction!
But, somewhat to my surprise, he stayed in touch via e-mail, provided a tracking number, and got the watch to me pronto, considering it shipped from Hong Kong. So, despite others bad luck with this seller, I can't say anything bad about him. And, though kicked him off, he's still selling his wares via a web site. Not that I'm endorsing or vouching for this guy in any way, mind you! All I'm saying is it worked for me, and if you're a gambling man you might want give him a try...
