After a liesurely breakfast, we headed for the hills:

Head for the hills!

Pretty wide load there, I admit. Smiley But the trailer continues to please, and now I'm hauling items for Ray and Judy, 'cause they ran out of room in the car. Laughing out loud! Here's a rare shot of Ray:

FJR1300 incoming!

Rare 'cause, with that bike, you normally see only tail lights, receeding into the distance. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off!

We arrived in Robbinsville in the early afternoon and, with rain threatening, decided we'd better get in a couple of runs through The Gap before the bottom fell out. Here's the first real Point Of Interest once you're on the Dragon proper:

Cheoah Dam

Then, on to the Real Show - the road itself! Approximately 8 miles and 270 curves later, you get a different perspective:

Cheoah Dam

What a great view. And what a great ride! This shot of Ray will prove it:

More fun 'n a barrel o' monkeys!

Look close, and you'll note that Ray's sporting a Big Sh*t Eating Grin inside his helmet..

I led the way on the return trip and.. well, I kinda lost Ray. Smiley Just goes to show that horsepower ain't everything. Smooth riding and complete confidence in your bike count for a lot, too. According to my trusty Casio they counted for 5 minutes and 41 seconds on this occasion, that being the time it took Ray to arrive after I switched off the ST's ignition. Smiley Laughing out loud! Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off!

Pam was waiting back at Mile Zero, and introduced me to our new pet..

Robbie the Dragon

..dragon, who she's named "Robbie". (He's from Robbinsville, NC, you see. Smiley )

That pic also shows my cockpit as configured for this run. The video turned out quite decent!

One last photo.. This may not mean much to those who don't ride. But for those who do, it will speak volumes:

Death to Tire Nubbies!

That's called Using All Your Tire, gents! Smiley

Well.. nearly all. I've still got about 10mm of virgin rubber on the outside edge there. Don't count on it being so chaste tomorrow, though! Laughing out loud!

Later, folks!

-Ricky

but knew it was a huge number. Laughing out loud! I had to stop about half-way as my wife was starting to look just a tad green -- ummm actually more like the color of Robbie! Driving she's fine, but can't take a continuous stream of hairpins very long as a passenger. I'd love to do it on a bike or in one of the sports cars I owned.
Thanks, John! "318 Curves In 11 Miles" is the grand total... Post contains no message text
