Evel Knievel

One of my fondest memories of the sixties was seeing Evel perform at an AMA mile flat-track race. It was Springfield, I'm sure, and the year was probably '66 or '67. He jumped some cars that day, but that was sort of anti-climactic, for me. What really impressed me were Evel's wheelies!

Note that though Evel's name is most always associated with Harleys and Triumphs, he's Honda 305-mounted in the above photo. That's no fluke! I daresay that Evel used Hondas as much, maybe more, than he did any other brand. He was Honda-mounted for his wheely show that day I saw him, I know, though he did switch to a Triumph Bonneville for his jump.
