Now, I'm more of a dog person than a cat person, but I have known and loved more than a few cats in my day. My wife's cat Snickers was chief among them. He was a large tom, and quite a rounder. He had the heart of a lion, and was the mightiest of hunters. It was a rare mouse indeed that dared to invade chez McBroom! We moved to a house in Bristol, Illinois in 1980, one which was plagued with ground squirrels and moles. Within 6 months, he decimated the population of both. I once watched him sit motionless at the mouth of a ground squirrel burrow for six hours! Not one to stick to easy prey, he also brought home tree squirrels, rabbits, birds, and even a bat! However, as you can see from the third photo above, he was extremely good-natured and indulgent with children.
