But of course! Two, actually. Surprised you don't remember this one..
Ricky Lee -- November 28, 2009 09:19PM (Views: 28)
..since you responded to the original thread.
It only lasted a few weeks, though, then I converted it over to a quartz movement.
But the RickyAuto is still intact..

..and I can't see that ever changing.
Pretty rare movement in that one, a -made Hermann Becker HB313:
Any movement that Reto gives respect is A-OK in my book!
I miss the Timex-powered RickyWatch, I must admit. That last case I have in reserve? It will be another Ricky, I am determined. This time for keeps!

Ah, yes. Now I remember. I have trouble keeping track, I guess. (n/t)

..pics taken by me, verify this to be true, and using an Elgin pocket
watch movement from the early 1900?????.....yep, that's what it looks
like. Forgive the plastic spacer, I'm working on a brass one. Cheers,
greg

it's posing some interesting problems >

given the age of the movement, it doesn't have a typical crown/stem
set-up. The stem is basically a square bit (I don't own a caliper small
enough to measure it) and it sets and runs in the regular way, however
the crown/stem is kept in place by the case, and not a button or the
like in the movement.
And....the crown is at 12....typical.
Shame too, cause it has a nice dial and beautiful blued hands. I'm
going to redo the dial somehow, and rig the crown.....somehow.
I
actually considered leaving it as a 6 eater, and place the crown on the
bottom...somehow, once again. I'm determined, it will happen.
..............
more crap to make you wish you hadn't opened the link
below.....no nudity, witty comments, or much anything of
interest...cheers, greg

Sounds like you need a custom-machined widget to retain the stem, then.

Can you not modify the dial feet so that it's possible to rotate the dial 90 degrees in relation to the movement? That way you can keep the crown at 3 o'clock?
If not,
I'd recommend going with a more conventional movement, say an ETA 2801.
I mean, I just can't see this working as a 12 (or 6) winder.
Sure, with the long lugs on the RickyCase, the crown would probably
physically fit at either 12 or 6. After you machine a new hole for the
stem, that is. But even so you'd be left with a superfluous crown guard at 3. Or am I missing something?

woohoo! Might be my fave so far, nice work as always! (n/t)

The builds are better than you may give them credit for.

I bookmarked the build pages a long time ago.
I personally like the v1 with the "normal" bezel.
