Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, another courtesy of Marc's Dad.
This is a big chunky one, at 47mm X 52mm, and 19mm (!) thick.

G-Shock clone, right?
But I'm not so sure! Despite the obvious similarities it doesn't strike me as a blatant clone. Mainly because the basic planform is nearly spherical, vs. the more TV-cushion shape of the average G. Witness:

Also,
the dial layout seems clean-sheet, and not an obvious G-clone. I've so
far been unable to locate an instruction sheet (you Googlemeisters are
invited to try! )
but, near as I can make out, the functions are Time, 2nd-Timezone,
Day-date, and Alarm. No chrono, which I found surprising considering the
'Start' button, not to mention the ease of implementing chronograph in
the digital realm.

Clean!
Perhaps
the biggest surprise was that the semi-integrated resin strap is large
enough to fit me plus-sized wrist, albeit on the last notch. The caveat
here is, on the last notch there's precious little tail for the sliding
keeper to engage. But wait! I have a Caveman Solution for that!

You
simply scoot the keeper up over the open end of the buckle, and
friction locks it in place. Sometimes this is difficult (if not
impossible) unless you mod the springbar-side of the buckle by bending
it inwards. That was the case here and, by judicious application of my
wee watchmaker's hammer, I was able to close the nether side of the
buckle by 1/2 mm, just enough to make the kludge possible.

It wears Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8!
The real niche this watch fills? After carefully scrutinizing my collection, I have determined that it is (believe it or not! ) my one and only Solar Powered watch.
Sure, I've owned several Eco-Drives, and various sundry other
sun-powered watches. But for the nonce, this is It. That makes it at
least a temporary keeper!
to you Bro. Marc and, more to the point, this being Father's Day, to your Father.
