Kind of a long story.. bear with me. When my wife and I got married 2 years ago, we put a bunch of her stuff into storage. Last weekend we took some out, so she could (finally!) start sorting through it. One of the items was a small rosewood box containing, among other things, 4 watches. Three of 'em were ladies watches (duh! Smiley), so we'll skip those. Though I did get 2 of the 3 running! [puffs out chest]

The fourth.. well, here's a scanned Post contains Picture(s) :

Timex Electric

[Sorry 'bout the warped second hand.. hey, the watch don't hack! Smiley ]

Now, I know it looks rough. But you shoulda seen what it looked like 'fore I cleaned it & polished the crystal! Initially, I couldn't even read the Timex logo, the crystal was so cloudy & scratched.

It wasn't running, of course. Hey, it'd just spent 2 years in an unheated Mini-Store, and at least a decade before that in a closet. So I didn't expect much. But I had to know. So I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way to work today, picked up a new 303 battery. Installed it in the parking lot, using the seat of me Honda as a workbench. Alas, no joy. I am not happy!

Now, I hadn't brought a backup watch with me, so there I was with only a dead Vintage Watch Post watch, brand-new battery or no. I just couldn't stand not having a watch on, though. Just don't feel right. So I wore the Timex to work. Hey, even a broken watch is right twice a day, right? Smiley

To make a long story short: 'twas a busy morning and, after several times of checking the Timex and getting that sinking 'My watch is busted' feeling, I forgot about it started checking the time on my pager, instead. Imagine my surprise, then, when I sat down to lunch with a fellow watch afficinado, showed him my busted Timex.. and it was TICKING. Kinda sorta, anyway. It'd stop, start, back up (!), start again.

We watched, fascinated, while we ate. After about 10 minutes, it started to settle down. By the time lunch was over, it was running smooth, and has been doing so ever since. <checks> Dead on the money, 9 hours later. Guess they really will Take A Lickin' And Keep On Tickin'! <knocks on wood> Thumbs Up for this Watch
