Congrats! Watch and band are perfect examples of divers from that era.... (Views: 8)
Brian Uziel -- June 07, 2009 08:20AM
now you need a vintage Vostok Amphibian to see why they were superier to Swiss divers in those days
Very Nice! (n/t) (Views: 13)

OK, near-catalog-quality movement photos, courtesy of my PMWF conscience, Harold Clitheroe. (Views: 39)

I'm glad I couldn't make out the Ronda makers mark in the original movement phots, 'cause these are about 256% better.

Again, nothing exceptional, just journeyman workmanship at its vintage norm. Which ain't bad, BTW!

Good, solid work, that.
And I just know ye've all been waiting for a . The fact that I didn't post one from the git-go was probably the best clue as to this li'l guys true size, no? So, without further ado, here 'tis overstrapped..

The fact that is overstrapped wi' an 18mm would have surely let the cat out of the bag, no?

It's a beauty Ricky. Well done. 'love the square cyclops and the band is great as well! (n/t) (Views: 12)

I had the exact same Sheffield with the same rubber strap a while back!
I gave it to a work friend who's Seiko dress watch had died.
He
promptly left in at a bar here in Austin about 3 months later. Hmm.
Were you on 6th street in Austin back in March? Joking. Nice watch
though.
Could it be? (Views: 17)

Maybe 'tis no joke after all!
This
is an eFlay watch, and came from Sun City, AZ. Now, I realize that
Austin and Sun City aren't exactly neighboring locales.. but they're
both on I-10 and a mere ~ one days drive apart! Given that these
watches aren't what you'd call thick on the ground, it doesn't seem
beyond the realm of possibility that this is the same exact watch. How
crazy would that be?!

Nice watch though.
mate, I'm certainly diggin' it.

I like the vintage looks of the watch, especially the dial and hands. (n/t) (Views: 16)

To assuage my curious nature.. do you know if it's the same movement? IOW a Ronda 1015P?
TIA!

Congrats. Mens Sheffield Allsport = 36mm and takes a 20mm strap. (n/t) (Views: 13)

That ebauche makers mark = Ronda, I think... (Views: 29)

Swelp me if you didn't make me pull the back off for another look.. (Views: 18)
Ricky Lee -- June 06, 2009 10:29PM
..but that's OK, as my original movement photos sucked so bad I couldn't make it out. This gave me an excuse to shoot some more.
Anyway.. yeah, it's a seven-sided star, so definitely a Ronda!

In any case, while I own several Quartz Rondas (most notably the Mondaine, I reckon), this is my first mechanical Ronda.

You said "very, very, VERY unusual". Small size or a fixed bezel
just wouldn't merit that kind of description. And I don't see anything
else. I'll probably kick myself when you tell us what it is!

Ricky Lee -- June 06, 2009 09:41PM
Ahh.. perhaps not the best choice of phrases to describe its diminutive size.
OTOH, how many sub-32mm watches of that style do you see? Right! Not many!
-Ricky
I'll tell you what I think of it: Lovely! Congrats Mr Mc Broom! (Views: 16)
Bock -- June 06, 2009 09:13PM
I always had a weak spot for these kind of old 60's/70's divers;mostly
when found they are significantly worn, damaged etc... But man yours
looks so healthy! Your clean up did a good job as it reveals nothing but beauty!
Oh to answer regarding your hint > (Views: 17)
Bock -- June 06, 2009 09:20PM
is it the size perhaps? The crown looks relatively big to the rest of the watch
I think I know the secret (Views: 23)
thebarak -- June 06, 2009 09:11PM
Based on the spring bars I'll guess it's a boy's sized watch around 32mm
Am I right?
DING DING DING! You got it, mate!
Ricky Lee -- June 06, 2009 09:37PM
It is indeed a "boy-sized" watch, with
a base diameter of 31.8mm by my calipers. Takes a 16mm strap, and is
prominetly marked as such;
Took a little photoshopping, lest I spill the beans.
Oh, and thanks for not saying that it's a Ladies Watch which is, I suspect, how it was marketed.
Buy, hey, that's OK, as I am a notorious cross-dresser, with several ladies watches in me wardrobe. They go great wi'..
..me skirts!

Nuvolari -- June 06, 2009 09:11PM
Does it have something to do with the "T Swiss Made M1" on the lower part of the dial?
While one assumes T is [Tritium?...well, the type of Lume used] I've got to day I'm stumped byt the M1 reference.
Early '80s BMW supercar is what I'm thinking... but surely, that can't be it?
So what gives?

Ricky Lee -- June 06, 2009 10:04PM
You got me there, I'm afraid.
Just conjecture, but it might be a date mark, similar to the Bulova dating scheme. 1971 would seem to be about right, and 1961 not out of the question.
