..having been with me since the spring of 2004. I've never before managed a photo that I felt truly did this watch justice - not even close! - so when I was looking for 'victims' for practice with the Fuji S700 yesterday, it seemed the obvious choice.

It
has accumulated a bit of wabi over the years.. but not too bad, I
reckon. It's still running on the OEM battery, too, nearly five years
on.

Pity about the bluish tinge. I suppose I should adjust the levels.. and I would, if I weren't such a lazy git.
And, yes, of course I took a lume shot.

Nothing to write home about. But I think it's safe to say that 'tis..
..an improvement over the lume photo I've been previously using.
"But Ricky", you say, "what's all this tripe about rare? You bought the watch at Sam's Club for Pete's sake, how rare could it be?" Well, believe it or not, the answer is "Quite rare indeed", as far as I can tell.
For
one thing, I've never seen another like it on any of the fora. But
perhaps no surprise, since 2-tone is not exactly popular amongst WIS.
But then there's a bit of a mystery concerning the model number. The
hangtag clearly says this is a model SNA349P9. Thing is, you can google
that 'til you're blue in the face, and you won't find any info anywhere
- not on Seiko's official site, not on the fora, sales sites, no where. As far as I can tell Seiko never made such a model.. yet I've got the hangtag which says they did.
This is the closest thing I've ever been able to find..
..the
model SNA113. I've seen it in black dial as pictured above, silver
dial, and a blue dial which seems to be quite a lot brighter a shade of
blue than mine, judging by the few lo-res photos I've turned up. The
eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that I actually refer to this
watch as an "SNA113" on my blog. Why? Well.. I didn't want to confuse
folks with an (apparently) ficticious model number. And it is a dead ringer, if you discount the 2-tone finish.
And yeah, I kinda sorta intended to post this under Florida Sam's "Let me see your super rare Seikos" thread the other day.
But I never got around to it, and in any case I can't quite think of
this as truly being a rare watch. But I could be wrong! The SNA349P9
model number is the most puzzling thing to me. Is it possible that this
might be a special model that was made exclusively for Sam's Club? Does Seiko even do that?
Needless to say, I'd welcome any further info on the watch, or just your thoughts and conjecture about it's oddball nature.
