Re: : Micenga Cockpit Pointer-Date Automatic model MI001 Nice looking watch, Ricky!
Found them online. It's advertised as being dual time, but the pic doesn't show that; it's at least AM/PM. Is the screw on the back the way to the innards? Any reasonable water resistance to this watch? Thanks. |

Re: WELCOME, new unknown member! Where're you from? The Windy City, that place known to all the hot air politicos, AKA Chicago.
Also am on PMWF. That's where I heard about this forum. |

Ah, been there quite a few times. My wife's from South Bend IN. But we live in The Netherlands, as I'm Dutch.

Re: Nice looking watch, Ricky! Well. First, welcome to the CWF. It's good to see New Blood...
And thank you, I do rather fancy the Micenga's looks.
Yeah, I see there are a couple on eFlay at
the moment. Found it ironic that one is priced at US $32.99 Buy-It-Now
with 'free shipping', while the other has a US $14.99 opening bid, with
an $18.00 shipping fee. Either way you cut it, it would appear $32.99 is
the magic price for these.
And I reckon that's a fair price.. I've definitely paid more and got less.
Correct. It's not a true dual-time, but rather an AM/PM indicator.
I don't think so. Bear in mind that this
is speculation, but given the position of that screw, I think that it
releases the stem if you unscrew it. I'm 99.9% sure this is a
front-loader, where the dial/movement must be removed through the
crystal side. If so, the "stem release screw" theory makes a certain
amount of sense.
Another possibility is that it's merely a movement lock. Or perhaps movement holder lock would be more accurate. IOW its sole function is to hold the going-works in position so it doesn't jiggle around inside the case. Thing is, either way it's a fairly novel and unique type of construction. And I can think of a couple of reasons why it would potentially compromise the function..
One of them being a lack of Water Resistance.
Speculation again, But I would be very, very surprised if this design is more than 3 ATM WR. And it may not even be capable of that. In short, I don't plan to get it wet. Again, welcome to the CWF. Enjoy! |
