So. Let's do a Beer-30 What are you wearing? since I've missed a couple of Good Morning, Day, Evening! rollcalls.

I feel bad about it Frowning since one of my New Year's Resolutions was to participate in the What are you wearing? daily. Hey, I've done better wi' it than I do most New Year's Resolutions. Laughing

Sure 'twas the Crisis At Work that was me undoing. I clocked 40 hours from Saturday through Monday, so that barely left time to eat & sleep, Phoruming was out of the question. Today, though, I saw some light at the end of the tunnel. Enough that I Called It A Day at 15:30 as usual. 'course I started at 05:00 sooo... Wink

Anyway, here's what I've been wearing every day:

The Vibration, model G7500G. New photos, sure. And no, I won't apologize for the lint, dust, oil and assorted Machine Shop Mung. Indeed I purposely didn't wipe it down, as it's a Working Watch that is Put To The Test regularly, and deserves to be seen as such.

One personal touch here..

..is the aftermarket Diver Deployant. I admit I'm no fan of OEM G-Shock straps, to the point where I find them borderline unwearable. Oops! They never fit just right for me, it seems. In fact, I sold this watch at one point for that very reason. But when I had the chance to buy it back at pennies-on-the-dollar me Inner Scotsman couldn't resist. Smile

The deployant made all the difference in the world! It may not be readily apparent from the photo, but this deployant uses a flip-over sawtooth lock, which means truly Infinite Adjustment.

Well. That angle sucks! Blushing

Let's try again.

The Vibration Alarm & Hour Indicator works like gangbusters in a machine shop environment. It's so noisy that you'd never hear a conventional chime. Heck, I can't even hear me cell phone on the shop floor (at least that's me story, an' I'm stickin' to it! Laughing). But the Vibration never goes unheeded. A Truly Useful Complication! Thumbs up!

Sure we need a HWS...

Wears better'n any G I've ever tried! WIS Honeymoon

So, you say, "But Ricky, you're a Known Dual-Wrister. What about the other watch?"

Ah! Glad you asked, that'd be the Triathlon model 731-A.

Here's what my choice in an Extreme Duty Dual-Wrist Combo looks like in action:

Mind you, I really thought Hans would get it. Crazy! Loco! But, lazy fellow that he is, he apparently can't be bothered to run The Search that would Reveal All. I am angry!

Well.. at least it would narrow it down. There are two G-s in that post, after all. Wink

OK, what I got is a model G7500G, using the 2943 Module...

Sorry about the crappy pics, and all that lint. The darned thing still looks way better'n the photos, even with a year+ on the odometer. I reckon ol' boy really wasn't wearin' it much...

Cheers!

There are photos on me site, 'cause this is not the second but the third time I've owned this particular G. Laughing

We'll see if it sticks this time...

GW5600?
Keep it. They are great beaters, dive watches, and time references. If yours is like mine, a fresh battery will last 8+ years, so they're no hassle either.

I had to make a choice: spend time searching for some plastic object that had more owners than the number of times some people change their underwear on a monthly basis, or walk the dogs. Guess what? The dogs won! Snob

If you would have been talking about Rolex, Tudor, Mido or something else decent, I would have left the dogs standing in the hallway with their legs crossed a bit longer though!

Given the choice of not moppin' up dog widdlin's or guessing plastic watches.. well, I'll take the former every time. Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

I have no clue whatsoever! In general, I can't relate to G-Shocks... just a matter of taste, I guess. I have seen a few G's I didn't dislike though, namely the analog / digital combo's.

I don't mind having plastic watches at all - I own a few. No Snob attitude here. They're very practical, and the watch I wear the most falls into the 'Plastic Digi' category (Casio W-800). As long as the price is below $20 shipped, it's fine with me.

See, neither can I! Smile

Indeed, I've become known as something of a Hater in Certain Circles, I fear. I've owned maybe a half-dozen over the years, and I inevitably flip 'em, faster'n P12 flips a BCD. Laughing

For me it's a simple matter of fit and comfort. I want to like G's for their rugged nature and style, I really do.

But I've never run across one that really fit me. 'bout half the time, the strap's just too short. But even the XL models that give me enough "tail" fail to work, as well. There's never a hole at the right place, you know? I can get either a too-tight fit that pinches me wrist, or a floppy fit that slides all around. Nothing in between. Frowning

Not until I added the Tom Swift Diver Deployant® , at least! WIS Honeymoon (see me reply to Reto, below)

Funny you should say that. This G was originally donated to Ricky Lee's Home For Wayward Wristwatches, so I had zero in it. Now, I sold it for $20, as I recall, that first time. Smile Thing is, ol' boy I sold it to found it to be entirely too big. He brought it back about a week later and swapped it on a more conventional ~ 38mm quartz, field-watch kinda thing. The second fellow I sold it to, he had it something like a year. Long story short, he was over last night & said that he hardly ever wears the G. Allowed that he really would rather have a dressier watch, something in gold. He came to the right guy! Rolling on the floor laughing my a.. off

And it all comes down to one simple thing: a deployant. Yep, I shamelessly robbed this deployant..

..the problems it solved there are the same as the problems that needed solvin' wi' The .

Had to mod the G's strap lightly (very lightly!) but, sure enough, it feels natural and right to me in a way no G-Shock ever before has. WIS Honeymoon
