..aka the Wrat Bastard. Laughing!

Why? Well, this thing is just a mess. Actually, a more appropriate nickname might be "ChIndiglo", for basically it uses a stone-age version of the Timex Indiglo system. Looks like they used a standard sub-miniature quartz module, then designed an auxillary lighting module to fit around it. The main module uses the ubiquitous 377 battery, while the lights run on a 399. It keeps time A-OK, but when I swapped in a fresh cell for the lights.. nothing. I am sad... Also, note how..

..the dial is not centered in the case. I am confused... Scary! Nope, that's no optical illusion. It ain't centered, plain and simple. Crazy, man!

Know what though? Despite a' that, I find myself oddly drawn to this one. I am confused... The case, though a modest base metal jobbie, is very crisply wrought. The bezel does rotate, and quite smoothly. I usually scoff at tachymeter scales on a non-chrono, but it makes a little sense in this application, being on a rotating bezel.

Then too, the size is nice at 36mm DIA, 45.5mm across the 18mm wide lugs, 11mm thick. Compact, especially for a rotating bezel diver-like design, yet not too small. Thumbs Up! It wears very nice indeed..

This one may eventually make it all the way to the big leaugues, and donate it's case to a Caveman Watchmaking project. Wink, wink ... I reckon that by dropping in an ETA quartz movement with a carefully chosen dial and hands set, this one has the potential to be one sweet li'l custom. Time will tell...
