The -Date now resides on a tan made-in-Italy croco-grain w/ Modena butterfly deployant.
Click to supersize Say what you will of , this remains one of my all-time favorites. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.. It'd take -level money to get me to part with this one!
I'd been wearing 'er on the navy NATO for soooo long, this feels like a huge change. And more true to it's mission, I suppose. It's got me wonderin' how it'd look on a hardcore trad strap.. A Jurgens, say. In any case, I'm really diggin' it!
And yeah, yeah, I know 'tis not much of a "Catalog " But, hey, 'bout as close as it gets for li'l ol' me!
As always, thanks for lookin'!

Remember that the NATO obscured the display back, so for 96% of the 3+ years I've worn this, it effectively had none. The exception being on St. Patrick's Day every year, when I'd break out the horrendous green OEM strap on which Mr. PinkPink furnished it.
Ennywho. Not to wax too purple, 'ere 'tis..
Click to supersize ..and, again, 'tis like havin' a Whole New Watch!
While I tend to dismiss "little s" in a display back setting (gi' me a big ol' any day! ), this one does work pretty well.
In fact, I'd love to know more about this ! Anyone follow up the connection t'other day? I tried but got no where...
So. Executive summary. This watch - despite it's Humble Origins - manages to be THE epitomy of the Flieger-style, to me. More than your your or even and the rest of your B-Uhr family, this watch IS my Ideal Flieger.
And all that for $55! I tell ya', a Scotsman's just GOT to love .
As always, etc..

A few new photos of Alpha Number One. > (views: 43)
The first one's from April of '08, taken shortly after I put it on the tan strap. Discovered it this morning, having somehow overlooked it. Not that it's an especially great photo or anything..

..but good enough to share, I hope.
Next up a lume shot taken just this morning, shortly after I posted this one on the WYW thread. Yup, blame this on the Roll Call - not only did I discover that "forgotten" photo, it made me realize I had no lume shot.

Not in a league with Seiko lume, obviously. But actually quite decent for an of the period. Given a full charge the hands remain legible for 1 to 2 hours but, alas, the indices are pretty much done for after 15 or 20 minutes.
Lastly, a shot which shows how I've rigged the strap in order to fit me fat wrist.
It's a long where I really need an X-long, but it's a quality Italian-made piece that I just couldn't bear to pass up. So I punched a new 'first hole', added a Modena butterfly deployant, and removed the fixed keeper. It now juuuuust makes it, and sliding the keeper up over the end of the deployant keeps everything shipshape and secure.
Thanks for lookin', y'all!

On the rotor it says "B. CHAI PERPETUAL" and "CYL 98/1229".
Anyone recognize this?
Could perhaps nail down the manufacture with it>
Boss ?
TIA!

or more precisely a TY-2856 movement w/ 21 jewels. TY-28 = ST16. There are more variants than you can shake a stick at.
Cheers, gigfy
A version I had not seen. A rare World-Timer!
