Advance Athletic Works model AW21303W
I bought this one in Dec. of '05 with the intention of using the movement as a donor for the warranty repair job on my son's DIY watch. It originally had a blue dial, so this one seemed like a natural. Alas, the dial was a half millimeter too big to fit the DIY watch's case, so he ended up with the white-dial no-date version pictured in the link.
I ended up robbing the battery out of it for some other watch, modified the OEM velcro strap for another watch, and it sat in a drawer of my workbench for 5 or 6 months. Then, about a week ago, I bought a 20-pack of Energizer 377 batteries off and, with a surfeit of batteries on hand, decided that this would be a pretty decent beater watch after all. I popped in a battery, slapped it on this DIY strap (which started life as the carry strap for a set of BBQ tools), and..
..voilá!
I've only worn it a couple of times, but my initial impression is that, yes, it does make a capital beater watch. It's sub-$10 price means there's never any worry associated with wearing it, and I love the way the dial catches the light. In very bright light it looks purple instead of blue - this can see that in the above pic, though in direct sunlight it looks even more purple.
Here's a wrist-pic which shows the electric-blue color as it appears under softer lighting:
Two great s there! Here's another.. >>

Kinda sorta. It's actually my employer's camera.. but it's mine for the weekend!
Our old camera was a true POS: a vintage 1.2 megapixel Sony Mavica floppy drive unit. Blech! It made a certain kind of sense, in it's day, since it facilitated transferring pics to DOS-based machines. But I've been using that thing for years, and that day's over. I was almost happy when it died. So, long story short, my boss gave me the company credit card and sent me out to purchase a new camera. Yes! My kinda duty!
He put a $250 limit on the deal, but that was no problem, as the camera I chose, a Nikon Coolpix L4, was a mere $149.99 +tax at Best Buy. Yes, of course I shot some watch pics to test it out!
The above illustrates Reto's point about there being more info in the typical photo than first meets the eye. I mean, if you look close you can identify the brand of tripod I'm using, could identify the camera if you're really good, and could almost indentify the watch I'm wearing!
Out of 14 shots, I got one that was reasonably glare and
reflection-free:
Mind you, 1 keeper in 14 is about par for the course for me, and should not be taken as an indictment of the camera.
Here's what it looks like:
To sum up, it's an alright li'l camera and, for the money, a truly impressive performer. If you're in the market for a compact camera in that price range, you could certainly do worse.

Cost right now around $300.00 USD and it takes almost as good a pic as my D-70.
Taken with the P1
Taken with the D-70.
Both pics run through photoshop for minor cleanup/color correction.
Not my intention, I assure you!
That was a Q & D that could define Quicky & Dirty!
